Udo Bernhart was born in 1956 in Bolzano (South Tyrol) and grew up in the Vinschgau. For over 35 years the freelance photographer and photojournalist has been based in Frankfurt/Main Germany, from where he travels to his job sites around the world and regularly to his native South Tyrol. His pictures and reports are being published in national and international magazines and books and shown in various photographic exhibitions, among others in the prestigious Leica Gallery. 1996 Udo Bernhart received the award for the best solo exhibition by the German Association of Photography. He is also the author of more than 100 illustrated books and travel guides. His extensive archive contains photographs from Alaska to Tierra del Fuego, and from China to Easter Island. South Tyrol has always had a privileged position in Udo's work, as witnessed by the artistic, delicate pieces picturing this land from different points of view and surprising perspectives. 2003 and 2014 he received the ENIT Prize for the best travel book about Italy at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
