Oliver Borchert, a native of Hamburg, has been living in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania (East Germany) for more than ten years. Here, the nature-inspired photographer finds many of his motifs - predominantly animal and plant life as well as natural landscapes - nearly on his doorstep. When he goes on one of his numerous trips, he is drawn mainly to the north of Europe, especially to Finland. According to Oliver a good image opens up a new perception of things we have known for a long time or captures “that one special” moment. For this purpose, he is constantly experimenting with new or unusual perspectives and looking for surprising reflections and abstractions in nature.
