Ulrich Schiel, born in 1963 in Frankfurt am Main, developed and edited his films and photos early in his own laboratory. In various exhibitions, he made the results of his creative work available to the public. Eventually he worked for several years successfully as a freelance photographer in Frankfurt. Schiel was enthusiastic about the further development from analogue to digital photography in view of the expanded possibilities of expression that created new opportunities in photography. Above all, he appreciated the additional tools and means of visual representation the new technology provided. Although combining great importance to authenticity, his images are always more than the mere reproduction of what he sees. In times of ubiquitous and inflationary availability of visual material that is quickly and easily consumed, passed on and forgotten, Ulrich Schiel wants to invite the viewer to linger with his photos.
