Born in Minden, Germany, in 1985, Stephan Mentzner grew up in Porta Westfalica. From an early age he enthusiastically experimented with his mother's SLR camera, before finally receiving his first analogue camera at confirmation. Today, the trained gardener with his full-format camera prefers to photograph nature motifs, in particular the plant world with its infinite variety of shapes and colours. Yet Mentzner is also fascinated by structures and forms in other contexts as well as by the view of everyday life from unfamiliar, abstract perspectives. Thanks to his excellent observation skills he succeeds in making small details which, when easily overlooked, are visible in his pictures.
