25 years ago, a coffe-table book of photographs by Man Ray sparked Markus Lang's enthusiasm for photography. Some panoramic photos by Colin Prior, which he discovered in a picture book during a trip to Scotland in 1998, finally were responsible for his professional entry to photography. A bicycle trip through Northern Thailand gave both the impulse and the material for Markus's first photo exhibition. Further trips to Norway, Scotland, Spain, Italy, North America and Asia followed, always having his camera with him. With a series about a mosque and its community in Esslingen (Germany), he won the first prize for reportage photography at the “Schömberger Fotoherbst” in 2003.
