Bastian Kienitz, born in Perleberg, Germany in 1975, studied genetics and neurobiology in Mainz and Würzburg. In his scientific work the doctor of natural science gathered experiences with high-speed cameras and high-resolution still cameras. In spite of his scientific background, however, his great interest was always in art, especially in photography and poetry. Bastian has been working as a freelance photographer and artist since 2012. As an author and poet, Bastian received an award in 2014 at the Vienna Workshop Prize 2013 for his poems "Zappgedichte". He exhibited his photos in 2015 at the group exhibition PHOTOGRAPHY NOW at the Brick Lane Gallery in London. In 2016 Bastian was awarded the honorary prize for his photographic work at the Kunstgeflechtpreis. In the same year, the first solo exhibition in Bremen (title: UNKLARHEITEN) followed. Bastian Kienitz's interest is especially in nature and architecture photography. In all his photographs, he tries to express artistic references. By means of close-up, fading-out and perspective, he also leaves seemingly insignificant objects appear artistically valuable. The invisible becomes visible - likewise with microscopy.
