Alexander Sommer, born in 1972, has lived and worked in Hamburg since 1994. After completing his training as a media designer, he worked for many years as a freelance photographer and cameraman in the creation of training videos and product presentations for various companies. His camera and tripod accompany him throughout Hamburg as well as on his travels through Europe. Even in the digital age, Alexander likes to take analogue photos with large and medium formats, developing and scanning the films in his own laboratory. He prefers quiet and well-balanced picture settings, long-term exposures or close-up shots, and always searches for special atmospheric light conditions in the city and in nature for his pictures. "A photo has to tell a little story", says his motto. A good photo can do this even without people in it. Alexander’s diversified portfolio also includes some macro shots taken in natural light with a lot of love for detail.
