Florian Bachmeier, born 1974, grew up in Schliersee (Germany). In 1995 he began to undertake longer trips wih the camera to Mauritania, Mali, Ivory Coast, Senegal and Burkina Faso. After studying photography at the Escuela de Artes y Oficios in Pamplona (Spain) and New and Modern History at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich, he lives between Madrid, Munich and Schliersee. As a freelance photographer he works for renowned, national publications and regularly illustrates the magazine "Schöne Zeiten" in Miesbach. From 2011, Bachmeier has been a member of n-ost, the network for Eastern Europe reporting. Here he tackles socio-critical and political issues and travels to various crisis and war regions. For his reports, he has repeatedly won awards, e.g. the Pressefoto Bayern award for the best series three times in a row from 2015 to 2017. Bachmeier also teaches as a lecturer in photography at the “Kunstwerkstatt” Munich. Florian Bachmeier's aim is to capture the harshness, variety and beauty of human life with his pictures, scenes and moments and to enter into a dialogue with the observer.
